Tune Of The Week: XXXY - Everything EP // Well Rounded Records
Triplexy drops his next..

We’ve waited a long time for this EP and it’s fair to say we at newsicmoos just can’t get enough of the varied sounds that encapsulate Well Rounded's releases. The latest EP to drop on the Brighton label is from XXXY, a Manchester producer based in London whose eclecticism in sound matches that of the imprint’s back catalogue.
Kicking off with track two, a subdued and emotive track; a looped and pitched vocal pleads softly: ‘I know this can’t be love’. Emotion within the vocal tone and meaning is mirrored by impending, doom-like synth whilst sub bass booms beneath some tasty knocks. The conspicuous use of synth keeps firm and steady this tumultuous journey. You can check the video below and read a little more about the video concept via Dummy Mag.
The title track jumps straight in to a party vibe, where a solid house beat hosts playful tones under a looped vocal that proclaims ‘everything’ with vigour in expression. Pitching 808’s, delectable use of keys and a beefed up bassline akin to the sound of Bristol all combine to transmit a colourful and convivial atmosphere. Even more personal to newsicmoos is the memory of head honcho Donga dropping this track to close an amazing night of music and vibes at our launch party in Manchester back in March. Good times. Good vibes.
The EP is finished up with ‘I Can’t Stop’, which features booming basslines, broken beats, heaps of energy and beholds a distinct UK flavour. Be warned though, this track is available only on vinyl.
