EP: Eats Everything & Justin Martin - Feather Flight // Hypercolour
DJ Mag's label of the year Hypercolour persist in their jaw-dropping roster of releases with this goliath collaboration between two producer's who in their own right hold much significance in the forward thinking nature of modern bass-enthused house music.
Natural heir to the Dirtybird empire crown Justin Martin teams with DJ Mag's DJ Of The Year and newsicmoos fave Eats Everything, a pairing of which even before listening there's enough excitement brewing in the knowledge that the end result will be a future classic. That sentiment is fully upheld.
The title track 'Feather Flight' provides a background jacking house beat where sinister tones deploy within the soft bassy undertones and warbling synths. It's one of those tracks that embeds itself within the mind, without notice. The second track 'Harpy' begins in a dreamy state of glittering strings and liquefied harp tones, an ascension that leads you in to the unknown, alluding to a hippy state of flowers and pretty things. Until the drop hits with a bone-shaking fog-horn as a sign that it's time to wake the f up.
Both tracks are set to tear dance floors apart this summer in a release that thrusts Hypercolour further forward as one of the best, and sometimes surprising, label's out there.
